Aaliyah Dana Haaughton rose to notoriety after she released the album she dubbed Age Ain't Nothing but an Number in 1994. The singer was barely 15 when the album became Gold. It was made as an album that was heavily in the style of R. Kelly and it put the singer in the limelight. In 1996 Jermaine and Timbaland made Aaliyah's album One In A Million. The album contained the single If Your Girls Only Knew, the single that was most popular. Aaliyah was recognized internationally as a R&B artist following the launch of her sophomore album, One In A Million. In 2000, she was in Romeo Must Die, a romantic action film with Jet-Li. She got this role when she was spotted by director Joel Silver at an awards show. In 2002 she was in the vampire movie Queen of the Damned based on the Anne Rice book. The Matrix Sequels saw her as Zee following her appearance as a character in The Matrix Reloaded (2003) as well as The Matrix Revolutions that same year. She received four Grammy nominations from 1999 to 2003. While she started out with small TV and movie parts, her acting career began growing in popularity around the turn of the century. Some of her other notable work are Leverage 2012, Suits 2013, and Grey's Anatomy 2017. In addition, she was a part of several commercials that included Volvo and many other major car brand names. The actress currently resides with her family in Los Angeles along with her wife, son and daughter. She also pursues her acting profession.
